larry the lawnmower man

Author: Jeanne

On Monday, I saw Larry mowing the lawn across the street. Since we have had this run of extreme heat recently, I have not seen him mowing in the neighborhood.

I rushed out and asked him if he could mow and trim for me. He came over after he finished my neighbor’s lawn and mowed my lawn. Then yesterday, I was sitting in my computer room, when I heard the sound of a weed whacker just outside my window. I looked out and there was Larry.

I ran out to ask him if he would cut a small 5′ stretch of grass between my yard and my neighbor’s back door. I explained how nice my neighbor was to me (watering my flowers in all this heat) and that we usually mowed the small strip of grass between each others home. He said ‘sure’. A short while later, a knock sounded on my front door. It was Larry and he asked for a trash bag. This totally confused me. Sensing this Larry said that he had weeded my front garden. !!!

It has been too hot for me to do it and my 2 grandchildren, who usually come and help me out with the yard, have been at summer camp and then on vacation with their parents. So, believe me the garden was a serious mess.

This random act of kindness warmed my heart and made the neighborhood look so much nicer. I really appreciate it.

This morning I opened an e-mail and it contained a quote by Dawna Markova

“I will not die an unlived life. I will not live in fear of falling or catching fire. I choose to inhabit my days, to allow my living to open me, to make me less afraid, more accessible, to loosen my heart until it becomes a wing, a torch, a promise. I choose to risk my significance; to live so that which comes to me as seed goes to the next as blossom and that which comes to me as blossom, goes on as fruit.”

Not recognizing her name, I went out to Google and searched. One of the many sites returned was http://www.soulfulliving.com/landscapesofsoul.htm.

I am always impressed with where the Universe leads me in my web searches; how interconnected we all are. I can not wait to go back and search out more about her. Did you know that she wrote ‘Random Acts of Kindness’ and a version for kids? There is a number of books she wrote at http://www.ptpinc.org/store/page6.html

How can we read all these wonderful books and learn all the new and exciting information that is being written and shared at this time? I for one am setting my intent to learn what I can of all the loving information that is being shared and allow it to add a ripeness, a fullness to my life.
