There is a saying that goes something like ‘And a child shall lead them’. How many times do you find this true?

About a month or so ago my 14 year old grandson suggested that I read the Inheritance series. He said I would really like it. This series was supposed to contain3 books but now it is going to have a 4th. So, I started book 1, Eragon, with a great deal of skepticism and was quickly hooked. The twists and turns within Christopher Paolini’s plots and the depth of his characters is amazing for one so young. As soon as I finished the first one, I traded it for Eldest and had to wait a few weeks until I could trade that one in for Brisingr. I am now just a bit past the half-way point.

This teenage author is phenomenal! He started writing this series when he was only 15; when Brisingr was published, he was 19. His books are written to capture the imaginations of teens, but sprinkled throughout are wonderful seeds for spiritual thoughts. The following is taken from Pages 478-479 of Brisingr:

‘How am I supposed to know which religion is the true religion? Eragon wondered. Just because someone follows a certain faith does not necessarily mean it is the right path. . . . Perhaps no one religion contains all of the truth of the world. Perhaps every religion contains fragments of the truth and it is our responsibility to identify those fragments and piece them together. Or perhaps the elves [those not like ourselves] are right and there are no gods. But how can I know for sure?
